This week
•August 25, 2010 • 1 CommentHey folks. Just a reminder that this week I will be attempting to get some dates from you guys so we can put a fall events calendar together. So be looking at your availability in the fall and let me know when you can and can’t be involved with Gathering activities. Also… food for this week will be salads. This is salad of any kind….(if someone can make a meat salad i will be a happy man:)) So please comment on this post what you plan on bringing. We will be in Matthew 15 this week talking about Tradition Vs. Scripture. Here’s what we will be reading:
“Then the pharisees and scribes came to Jesus from Jerusalem and said, ‘Why do your disciples break the tradition of the elders for they do not wash their hands when they eat.” He answered them, “And why do you break the commandment of God for the sake of your tradition? For God commanded, ‘Honor your father and your mother,’ and, ‘Whoever reviles father or mother must surely die.’ But you say, ‘If anyone tells his father or his mother, “what you would have gained from me is given to God,” he need not honor his father.’ SO for the sake of your tradition you have made void the word of God. You hypocrites! Well did Isaiah prophesy of you, when he said: ‘This people honors me with their lips but their heart is far from me; in vain do they worship me, teaching as doctrines the commandments of men.’”
Be praying for each other this week. Blessings on all of you
Ben

This Week at the Gathering…
•June 25, 2010 • Leave a CommentLast night at the food bank was AWESOME!!!!!! WE bagged nearly 6000 pounds of Onions and Apples (oh yes our hands stunk!) but all and all we were able to feed a ton of people! Thanks to all who came out.
This week at the Gathering we will be continuing our discussion through the parables of Jesus. We do this because Jesus throughout His ministry talked about the Kingdom of God. He describes this kingdom (what it’s like, how it works) through parables. As citizens of this kingdom it is important for us to understand what it is and what it is not. Come out and join us in the discussion. Again food this week will be Texas style: hot dogs, steaks, beans beans they’re good for the heart, the more you eat the more you…… you get the picture
Please comment on what you plan on bringing.
See you all Sunday!
